Frogs are also fragile to human activity like the constant damage coming from the cosmetic industry and we want them leaping around for longer.Thus The Rain Spirit has called out our eco-conscious spirit to foster our Frogservation Program in Ecuador to prevent their landscapes's exploitation.

Earth can’t sing nor cry, so it has remained unnoticed for a while, but it can’t anymore.I grew up in a small town in Ecuador, the most biodiverse country in the world, believing that this proximity guarantied the connection we have with nature, opposed to those living in concrete cities and industrialized countries, who might never understand this feeling. It turns out it was not a common feeling around me.

Not everybody was as interested in being intimate within the forest for the colors of these flowers or the others. Not in coming to the beach for the salty air running through their noses. Not in camping under the moon for the singing of the bugs and disguise beasts. Many would see ecosystems as just pretty pictures for social media.Having worked previously with Amazonian suppliers in Ecuador and designed a typical greenwashing skin care brand, with no real purpose, I felt inspired to start over by Amazonian agriculture wisdom and tiny creatures that can actually sing on behalf of Earth when Rain is to come.As a Cosmetic Chemist from Ecuador, I’m committed to use the best ingredients from my homeland to revive the sentiment of proximity to nature and nourish our skin and senses.Because The Rain Spirit represents the holistic relationship between communities, creatures and landscapes, we cannot ignore the call.

1. Harvest. Diversify. Repeat.

We source our main ingredients from local families and indigenous communities in Ecuador that use limited, but diverse crop production.By promoting these economical activities, monoculture or waste won’t be generated.Thus, it is possible to grow magnificent ingredients thanks to ancestral techniques that foster biodiversity and revalue indigenous knowledge and needs.

2. GreenRUSHING.

We avoid the use of many common ingredients in the manufacturing industry to preserve our creatures, landscapes and our health, like anything that promotes animal testing, deforastation and oil extraction.Solely integrating natural ingredients in formulations is not enough nor sustainable.Minding the whole lifecycle of products you consume everyday can make a difference. Sourcing, energy waste and further conscious consumption benefit our minds, bodies and landscapes.

3. Beyond Vanity.

Our bodies resonate smoothly with nature, so our products are designed to be multi-purposed and functional. We don’t need a different product for every squared inch of our bodies when intentional ingredients can cope to the structure and constituents evenly.As humans, we are aware of our bodies and their needs, taking from nature as long as it is allowed and sustainable for the future and our future selves. But we can transform these faily rituals and a more meaningful intervention with our minds and Earth, while being fully present, breathing in and out the intended essential oils blends included in our products.Vanity makes us look better. It was called The Rain Spirit since it would tell the pre-Columbian communities in Ecuador when the rain was coming.Today it is our inspiration to connect you with nature and create better products.

Frogs have a unique skin that allows them to survive and adapt to many landscapes: from the Andean Páramos to the Amazonian Rainforest and more ecosystems.Our frogdiversity is however declining at unprecedented rates since the frog skin is directly affected by global warming and vegetation fragmentation.

Completing our products life-cycle required a step further. Our mission does not end in hands of the community using our products. The impact will resonate towards tangible action. Actions that will allow us to keep taking from Earth in the future and iterate our relationship with the planet with awareness.20% of our profit goes directly to CENTRO JAMBATU in Ecuador, to fund projects that set methods to prevent pollutants into the environment and do continue research towards conservation of our ecuadorable friends.

As a form of conservation action, we are being sponsored this fall by CREATURE CONSERVE to execute a project to explore, analyze, discuss and collect data from ecosystems in some locations of the Amazon Raiforest and Highlands of Ecuador as part of a the Sustainable Product Design of The Rain Spirit.

We will focus on using local ingredients in Ecuador and correlating them with the territories where endemic frog species face declining due to climate change and habitat fragmentation.We will be working with Biologists in Ecuador to determine the species in danger located and the territories of the some ingredients provided by indigenous communities and map the sites to document and characterize.So, after designing and launching our first skin and personal care products in New York City, we will consciously choose precious ingredients that come from rich regions in Ecuador with ethical backgrounds that can sustain agroecological activities towards climate change and conservation of frogs as bioindicators.

We will be connecting with organizations in Ecuador to collaborate as partners to learn about their methodologies of conservation

We are happy to announce that we will be collaborating CENTRO JAMBATU in Ecuador, to get to know from a closer perspective to highlight and visualize the efforts to mitigate amphibians decrease and extinction through a collaborative network of educators, scientists and communities.The goal is to consciously address 20% of our profit as a monthly donation to support the organization that is actively participating in the field of conservation.Developing countries like Ecuador hardly focus budget to conduct research and field studies, so it is more than important to support organizations like CENTRO JAMBATU achieve their goals.

To design our skin care and wellness products, we consciously chose precious ingredients that come from rich regions in Ecuador.

From the depths of the Ecuadorian Amazon, we work to get an incredible ingredient for our skin.The Morete fruit, obtained in a sustainable way by the Siekoya-Remolino Community that protects its land from exploitation, is highly traded in local markets especially to make sweets, juices, jams and oil.The morete oil has between 70% and 74% mass of oleic acid, higher than olive oil and it has been found to be higher in β-carotene than carrots and spinach.More than just an ingredient, it is a symbol of resistance, respect for nature and commitment to conservation.
